No Choice

No Choice

What love won’t give you

and you can’t borrow

— you have to steal

**

Each Blessing

The day I

crossed over

not counting

the years

Fixation

with age

left behind

in arrears

No longer

a number

my thankfulness

spreads

For every

new day

life betroths me

to wed

Ignoring

the time

with each blessing

bestowed

The gate slowly

 opens

its pearls

— all aglow

**

Shadows Long

A prisoner

of what he didn’t know

 walls grew higher still

His sentence

 no parole in sight

appeal was less than nil

A convict’s tale

his cell is dark

enlightenment denied

To serve each day

in shadows long

— with light condemned to die
