Song Of Espousal

The words came as gifts

from the land of proposal,

a voice of enchantment heard far, far, away

Wrapped in the promise

of a better tomorrow,

new bows made of letters untie and defray

Although undeserved but never unwanted,

in the vanishing darkness

feelings pledge with the dawn

As thoughts await marriage, the silence has ended,

a committed engagement

—betrothed in a song

Sincerest Form Of Shame

Plagiarism self-inflicted,

it blinds veracity

keeping us forever

in the dark

To wander in costume

as others unnamed,

 their vision

to herald and hark

In shadows of obscurity

 doubt crossing fear,

we steal

what can’t be bought

Reflecting false images

by our hand

chasing

—what can’t be caught

The Tracks Of The Bear

The places I’ve been

 all part of me now,

 roadmaps of intention

tracking landscapes endowed

The history I’ve written

covers chapter and verse,

of promises made

and commitments diverse

The road ever widens

 my scope narrows down,

 the past out of focus

leaving town after town

Tomorrow unbeckoned

I search for today,

the future unreckoned

—the moment in play
