Time Unfolds

In my heart I knew little of

the world and all its parts

As I drifted idle and wandered blind,

 through constant fits and starts

My mind reached out beyond its grasp,

 with the questions close behind

As time unfolded upon itself

 —each moment to define

Hope Denied

When love deceives,

 the heart to bleed,

 its truth an open wound

Forever long,

 time’s painful gong,

 rerung with every moon

When love deceives,

 on bended knees,

 and lost within the pain

All wishes fly,

 with hope denied

 —as emptiness remains

The Devil’s Luck

You can’t step into the same river twice,

and have the water be the same

You can’t throw wishes into the wind,

 and recall them time unclaimed

You can’t put a baby back in the womb,

once the cord of life has been cut

And you can’t change a lie into the truth,

 your intention—the devil’s good luck
