No Way Back

The biggest mistake I ever made…

leaving the place I was going to

Frozen inside a desperate moment

—stolen bartered and gone

Out Of The Wilderness

Coming from nowhere

destined for anywhere

Each pathway a mantra

—whose footsteps define

Straighter Lines

The shorter the distance

between concept and words

The deeper the impact

—of what’s to be heard

Highway 104 Blues

Halfway to Tucumcari

the light began to wane

Halfway to Tucumcari

the guilt turned into blame

Halfway to Tucumcari

I heard that voice again

Halfway to Tucumcari

—running from the end

Undercover

Darkness endows the small

and the ordinary

with poetic power

Falling with the fallen

rising with the chosen

Reaching for

forgiveness

—and the absence of pain

For Life Itself

At last on my deathbed

I reach for two words

The ones often transient

or sadly unheard

As my eyes close forever

to journey anew

Two words mark my passing

a final “Thank You”

(The Book Of Prayers: September, 2022)

Silent Voices

External conflict

(versus)

self-disaffection

The first a misdemeanor

(the second)

a higher crime

Inarticulate

powerful yearnings

trapped in between

Inarticulate

powerful yearnings

—of that forever lost

(Dreamsleep: August, 2022)

Eternity’s Child

 Born without reference

freedom prevails

The moment supreme

comparison failed

Living without reference

judgment defiled

Existing intrinsic

—eternity’s child

Plus Minus

Can nothingness exist

could existence be as nothing

Can something break from everything

—subtraction zero sum

The Whole Is Greater…

I liked Democrats

when they acted like Republicans

(and)

I liked Republicans

when they socialized with Democrats

I liked women

when they reveled in their difference

(and)

I liked men

—when they didn’t act at all
